Conceptual Model

In this step, we started to redefine each item (still in the form of triples subject, predicate, object), with the help of the metadata classifications that we have chosen in the metadata alignment phase, substantially refining the theoretical model with metadata ontologies, standards and vocabularies.

Dublin Core provides general classes to represent classes and properties, allowing a general harmonization.
CIDOC-CRM was used for physical artworks.
FRBR was our main choice for the description of textual materials and their bibliographic information.
FOAF has been used mainly for multimedia items and images, since we found it to be the most appropriate choice for these kinds of visual items.
